Conclusion (Realization) About Earthquakes In The Philippines
Conclusion (realization) about earthquakes in the Philippines
Good Day
Philippines is a volcanic island formed by two converging oceanic-continental plate namely; Eurasian plate (continental plate) and Philippine Sea plate (oceanic plate). As they collide, denser Philippine sea plate subduct beneath eurasian plate and leads towards the mantle. As the subducted plate moves towards the mantle, it melts and becoming less dense which rise up on the surface creating volcanic island (Philippines Island). Because of tension as the subducted plate grinds to the eurasian plate, it would result to earthquake.
Earthquake in the Philippines is common since Philippines is located along the convergent boundary. And since Philippines have different active Volcanoes, it also experience volcanic earthquake which has less magnitude compared to tectonic earthquake. Several Faults are also located in different areas of the Philippines, so the public should be more alert and prepared with the big one strike. The government conducted quarterly simultaneous earthquake drill in all department to ensure the preparedness among the public. Phivolcs cannot predict when earthquake strike, we should be prepared to avoid calamities.
Hope it helps....=)
